However, he needs to win the trust of the coaching staff to secure a spot in the lineup. Parssinen's potential to replace Jonny Brodzinski as the 13th forward makes him an intriguing prospect.
Scott Morrow: Morrow was once considered the No. 2 prospect in the Rangers organization, but his stock has fallen slightly. Acquired from the Carolina Hurricanes, Morrow is an offense-first defenseman who ideally serves as a puck mover and distributor. While he didn't distinguish himself as a must-have in the lineup, Morrow could still have a bounce-back season and vault himself back into the Rangers' long-term future.
Urho Vaakanainen: Vaakanainen was in the Opening Night lineup for the Rangers last season, but he lost his spot to rookie Matthew Robertson. Despite this, Vaakanainen remains a decent option as the extra defenseman. However, with the addition of Pettersson and the emergence of Smits and Drew Fortescue, Vaakanainen's chances of winning back a bottom-pair role in training camp are slim. Nevertheless, he could surprise and make a strong case for himself.
In my opinion, these four players are worth keeping an eye on as the training camp approaches. While they may not be the most talked-about prospects, they have the potential to make a significant impact on the Rangers' future. Whether it's Rempe re-establishing himself, Parssinen winning the trust of the coaching staff, Morrow having a bounce-back season, or Vaakanainen surprising everyone, these players are definitely worth watching.
